CWA 2010: Sweet Wines of the Year

Inniskillin 2008 Riesling Icewine, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario $40

Winemaker Bruce Nicholson routinely made gold-medal icewines when he worked at Jackson-Triggs Okanagan in British Columbia and he has transferred his skill to Niagara fruit with the greatest of ease, with three icewines finishing one-two-four in the 2010 CWA. This is a slender, exquisite icewine that is bright and pure, with almost ethereal aromas of well-integrated peach and lemon, plus vague notes of petrol.
