Every Jan. 25, Burns suppers are held around the world to commemorate the birthday of Robbie Burns, Scotland's national poet. Born on January 25, 1759, Burns is credited with being a pioneer of the Romantic movement and his work is known for its social and political commentary.
At a Burns supper, traditional Scottish food is served, whisky is consumed, poems are read and the haggis is "piped in" by bagpipers.
