This winery has six estate-owned Niagara Escarpment sites, including the large 40-hectare Kew vineyard. The Mountainview Road vineyard, first planted in the 1950s, with acreage added in 2007, is now appearing on labels. Aussie winemaker Philip Dowell strives for balanced wines. Pinot noir is a specialty, but riesling, cabernet franc and old-vine chardonnay are historically strong. Riesling sussreserve and vidal can be delicious summer bargains. The Archangel series of varietal sparklers was added a couple of years ago. The fine hillside site offers a great vista from the Angel’s Terrace restaurant.
