Shipping Guidelines

The Wine Access 2010 Canadian Wine Awards take place from August 16 through 19, 2010 in Penticton, British Columbia.

Before Entering your Wines:

  1. Read the complete Rules for Entry and ensure they qualify for this competition.
  2. Prepare your wine delivery in accordance with the following shipping guidelines.

Shipping Wine to the Competition

Due to the national nature of the Wine Access Canadian Wine Awards, we endeavour to create the consolidation points each year for wineries to ship to before all the wine is assembled at the judging venue. Shipping to consolidation points is at the wineries' expense

You may want to reduce shipping costs by shipping your submissions along with those of a neighbouring winery or with a regional winery association.

All entry fees must be paid in full so that wines can be received and accepted at the competition.

PLEASE DO NOT send your cheques packed with the wine or sales or technical sheets.

PLEASE MAKE CHEQUES PAYABLE TO: RedPoint Media Group Inc.

Wine samples for the Wine Access 2010 Canadian Wine Awards should NOT be delivered to the the Wine Access office in Calgary.

How Many Bottles Do I Send?

We require 3 bottles of each wine being entered, since competing wines will be tasted at least 2 times in separate blind tastings by
different panels. The 3-bottle minimum is based on historical needs of the CWA; wineries that feel 4 bottles would balance the risk of elimination due to flawed or "off" bottles are welcome to ship 4 bottles.

Packaging Instructions

  • Please package your wine carefully in sturdy boxes, preferably in cardboard shipping packs or, if necessary, styrofoam shipping packs. Wines delivered locally to the consolidation points will be packed on pallets and shipped via truck to the competition. Extensive packaging will not be required for those wines. All others should be packed in shipping cases.

  • Refrain from using messy chips and difficult to open bubble wrap wherever possible. Please avoid using non-recyclable packaging.

  • Please do not include technical sheets, brochures, etc. in sample boxes. You may want to include a packing list, but it is not necessary.

  • Please clearly mark two sides of every shipping carton with the initials CWA and your winery name.

Lost or Damaged Wines

  • The Canadian Wine Awards assumes no responsibility for wine damaged or lost during shipment to consolidation point;
  • Entry fees will not be refunded for broken, lost or incorrect wine shipments;
  • Entry fees will not be refunded for any wine received after the receipt deadline;

Late Wine Shipments

  • If you anticipate that some of your samples will arrive after the August 4 deadline to the consolidation point, please contact Tom Firth IMMEDIATELY to make appropriate arrangements for processing your wines prior to the competition.
  • Wines that arrive after the August 4 deadline and without prior arrangements made with the CWA administration will not be eligible for any refunds or returns.
  • Any wines that arrive after judging begins on August 16 are disqualified from the competition and NO refund will be made for wines not received after judging begins.
