Penfolds 2008 Bin 389

90 Points

Sometimes called “Baby Grange”, Bin 389 is a rock solid wine every year. It ages well, drinks great even on release and does not break the bank. There are dense blackberry, cedar, cherry, blueberry, spice, leather and tobacco aromas and a mild resinous note. A blend of 52% cabernet sauvignon and 48% shiraz, the palate shows firm tannins, more black fruit, coffee, cedar chip and cola, prior to a minor herbal note on the finish.
