Creekside 2008 Broken Press Syrah

90 Points

Creekside has excelled with syrah for several years, based largely on its Paragon vineyard in the warmer St. Davids Bench region. This is quite impressive for a 2008. It has a big, rollicking, spiced nose of sour plum, blackcurrant, huge black pepper, capers, oyster shell and wood smoke. In all, it is very engaging. It is mid-weight, smooth and ready to drink. Quite well focused and its interesting flavours hit excellent length. It is moving into prime time for consumption, with another three to five years ahead.
