Catena Zapata 2008 Catena Alta Chardonnay

93 Points

Oh my, the Catena Alta Chardonnay is amazing. Lovingly made with 100% high altitude fruit grown in the Adrianna Vineyard in Tupungato, this chardonnay should scare the French. It's 100% barrel-fermented in French oak and while it’s rich and mouth-filling, the oak is not an issue. You will love the leesy brioche and under-ripe red apple fruit that is persistent from front to back. Flecks of spice, butter and apricots only add complexity to the finish. A fabulous value, modern chardonnay with an Old World twist. This should be a wine list standard.

Price List:

  • Alberta: $33
  • British Columbia: $35 Everything Wine
  • Ontario: $40 Vintages
