Dopff & Irion 2008 Crystal d’Alsace Sylvaner

88 Points

Sylvaner is one of my favourite grapes. Perhaps a touch too fleshy here, if I were to make a complaint, but still a great example of the beautiful simplicity that is sylvaner. It’s about subtlety, lemony accents, bracing acidity and a solid, mineral finish. Doesn’t have the amplitude or aromatic complexity of riesling, but sometimes you just want something beautifully simple.
