In addition to nabbing top spot in the merlot category with the Napa Valley, Sterling picked up a Judges’ Choice distinction for their entry-level merlot. There are inky fruits, blackberry, plum, chocolate, vanilla and plenty of jammy notes on the nose. The palate is smooth and chocolatey, with black fruit jam. Very, very quaffable.
